Looking for the following:

Type of opportunity:

Sale (Owner Financed), Lease (1 to 5 Years), Lease (5+ Years), Lease with Option to Buy, Employment. More info: My wife and I are looking for an opportunity to grow and raise nutrient dense food for our family and community. We have an integrated farm plan that is focused on soil fertility and animal husbandry. Through multi-species grazing and soil testing to guide our management decisions, we can measure and document our progress towards healthier soils and more productive farming. We’d like to educate and help encourage future generations to participate in the visceral experience farming offers. We plan to do this by sharing our journey as land stewards.

Equipment & infrastructure:

Well / Pond / Other water source, Livestock facilities. More info: Most of the infrastructures are portable and I plan on building. Some infrastructure that would be helpful starting out would be living quarters ( we own an rv. Which could be used for temp living. A small home would be preferred.) A barn for wintering animals and hay. A well, spring or some other water source. An energy source will be needed. Small outbuildings or shed for equipment and storage.

Current production on farm:

More info: We currently live in California and are not currently farming. I took some time off to gain more experience in construction learning basic skills in all aspects of construction. I have experience in soil fertility, composting, plant biology, animal husbandry, knf, regenerative agriculture, permaculture, and operating heavy machinery.

Current farming practices:

None, the property is not being farmed.

Qualifications and goals:

Previous farming experience:

Manager

Number of years experience:

9

Other qualifications:

Farm business training. More info: I have operated and owned a farm business for 7+ years and managed fertility and crop planning for 2 years on other farms. I learned a tremendous amount of farming and business knowledge during this time.

Production goals:

Cattle (Dairy/Beef), Hay or pasture, Hogs, Poultry (Broiler/Layer). More info: In the beginning most of our effort will be focused on creating the best quality chicken available on the market. Pastured broilers have the fastest turn around and least capital investment upfront. There is also a USDA exemption to process poultry on farm without an inspector, which increases quality and profit. Next, we will focus on raising and direct marketing pork and beef. If demand is there we will grow some vegetables for customers as well. Our long term goal is to raise chickens, pigs, and cattle to sell directly to consumers.

Personal experience and production goals summary:

My personal experience in business development and management has taught me about profit, loss, and scaling production. My understanding of fertility and nutrient cycling will guide my decision making progress toward optimal productivity. Productivity goes hand in hand with improving the land in every aspect. Including; soil fertility(increasing organic matter), water conservation, plant/animal diversity, and energy efficiency.
I have done extensive research and learned from mentors like Joel Salatin, and Allan nation.
